This past Friday, Fast Retailing opened another of their g.u. stores in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi. The four-floor store (including one basement) at 1,650 sqm and by far the largest of the 122 g.u. stores Japan-wide.
At the store opening on Friday jeans sold for 790 yen and t-shirts sold for 290. Beyond the store opening campaign the Osaka g.u. store will sell 80% of its merchandise at 50% lower than Uniqlo, and 50% of its merchandise at 50% lower – which begs the question, “Why shop at Uniqlo at all?"
